PVCC Senior Boys Hockey Team - Congratulations!
Posted 10 Apr 2008

Congratulations – PVCC Senior Boys Hockey Team
The Senior Boys’ Hockey team entered the Grand Final confidently as winners of the Northern EIS Conference with 5 wins and one draw. We were scheduled to play Huntingtower who were the southern EIS conference winners and who were hosting the Grand Final on their fantastic new synthetic hockey pitch. We knew that if we played well, a win against them on their home pitch was a distinct possibility.
The game started with Huntingtower mounting a number of dangerous attacks through their two good players. Plenty Valley re-grouped quickly to dominate the rest of the first half and led 2-0 at half time with goals from Jamie Padget and James Flack. Jamie, James and Steven Ondarchie controlled the midfield from then on, with Ben Ramsay executing a critical tagging role and Dillon Barnes and Matthew Ondarchie providing solid defence at the back. We scored twice more in the 2nd half to have a final scoreline of 4-0 (which could have been more given the number of breakaway opportunities generated).
Solid contributors across the half line were Damian Alliano, James Wake, Jacob Goodwin and Matt Muscat. Rhett Delany provided some entertaining play out on the wing and Jordan Burdett, James Peterson and Daniel Thevathayan all showed skills that have been developing well this season.
Andy Cairns in the net made some awesome saves the few times he was called upon and truly gives the Plenty Valley team real solidity in defence.
Congratulations to all players in what was a great win and also to our enthusiastic band of spectators/
supporters. We had a terrific season and I really enjoyed coaching this team.

Helen Padget (coach)
