Secondary House Athletics Carnival Report 2017


On Friday 17th March, the whole secondary school had a great day out in perfect weather at the House Athletics Carnival at the Meadowglen Stadium in Epping. All track & field events were keenly contested as were the novelty events! Upton had a fantastic start to the carnival winning the best dressed house competition and also the best war cry.

Secondary Athletics

Many records tumbled and the following students should be congratulated for their excellent performances.

Baye Agostino broke a 17 year old record in 100mA U14 – 11.74 sec. Baye also broke the U14 200m record in 26.19 sec and the U14 Long Jump with 5.47m. After warming up at our house aths, Baye now heads to the nationals next week. Congratulations Baye!

Rylan Herrick broke a ten year old record in the Open 200m to win in 24.47 sec.

Soul Suzuki broke the U15 1500m record by 2 seconds to win in 4.59.49 sec.

Mitchell Skipper won the U15 400m in a record 56.56 sec.

Mikayla Kotas broke the 13 year old U15 Shot Put record by 19cm throwing 9.09m.

Brooke Mason from Yr 7 equalled the U13 Triple Jump record with 8.88m.

Ethan Vellu broke the U13 Triple Jump record by 60 cm jumping 9.97m.

Alanah Sexton jumped 9.25m to break the U16 Triple Jump record by 7cm.

Ryan Ellis won the U13 High Jump jumping 1.45m to break the record by 10cm.

Max Brown broke a 15 year old record in the U15 High Jump jumping 1.66m.

Vian Swanepoel broke a 10 year old record to win the open High Jump with 1.80m.

Secondary Athletics

Upton won the carnival for the third year in a row ably led by senior captains Julia Tennent & Rylan Herrick.
